Professor Dr. Habibur Rahman (Specialization : Pesticide and Environmental Toxicology)

Associate Director is a Professor in the Department of Entomology and an affiliated member of the Institute of Food Safety and Processing (IFSP) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Bangladesh. Dr. Rahman has been completed his B.Sc. (Ag.) and MS in Entomology from Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh and a PhD in Pesticide and Environmental Toxicology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur, Bangladesh. He is doing research in the Laboratory of Pesticide and Environmental Toxicology belonging to the IFSP of this university. He has good skills in operating and handling the pesticide residue analytical equipment particularly GC-ECD, GC-FID GC-MS and HPLC as well as developed some methods for pesticide residue analysis. As a faculty member in the Department of Entomology, Rahman has successfully supervised 40 MS students, the majority of whom specialize in pesticide toxicology. A total of ten MS students are currently under his supervision. He has successfully completed several projects funded by UGC, NATP, KGF and MOST related to pesticide contamination, degradation and risk assessment.

Currently, he is working with pesticide toxicology and its detection, quantification, risk assessment, and removal techniques in different environmental matrices viz. vegetables, fruits, fisheries, dairy, and poultry products. Dr. Rahman is an efficient residue analyst of pesticide toxicology with 14 years of experience. There are 15 protocols he has developed so far for analyzing pesticide residues. Dr. Rahman has published scientific articles in several well-recognized peer-reviewed international scientific journals such as Food and Nutrition Sciences, International Journal of Current Advanced Research, Indian Journal of Ecology, Acta Scientifica, and Malaysian Journal of Sustainable Agriculture etc. He also actively participated in numerous international conferences and training program in the past 14 years.
